"That's a stick, mommy"

Anyone that knows the Kamm's, knows we don't have a green thumb. All my "plants" in my house are either fake or succulents (the plants that you only have to water 4times a year - well, I only water them4 times a year). I recently received a really pretty white orchid at a work function and thought that it looked easy enough to maintain. "Water when soil is completely dry". Well, with a home on the market, work,  and cold and flu season with two kids that catch everything, I did not manage to "water when dry". Needlesstosay, it's not doing well.

It sits on our kitchen table, and one evening Harleigh was playing with the drying/dead like flower.

I told her, "Harleigh please don't play with mommy's flower".
Quickly she responded with a little giggle, "Mommy this isn't a flower it's a stick". As if I was trying to trick her.

I failed to notice that my stem was "brown" and to her defense it did look like a stick.

Zak and I still laugh about it, as I am still trying to resuscitate my "stick".

The Difference a Year Makes

Pictures of my two kids a year ago. Harleigh's hair is so short and her face was so baby-like. Lawson, hmm, he was the size of a lemon and likely looked a bit alien-ish (a very cute alien I'm sure :)).

Harleigh's Outfit of Choice

My daughter is a princess through and through. She loves high heels, mini skirts or tutus, and cute "party" tops. She loves playing in these outfits. This is her one Friday night hanging out on our street corner (hmm...that doesn't sound right).

The "Exclusive" Club

Yesterday I asked Harleigh if she wanted to go out to eat and she said "yes". She also made it clear that she'll invite Landon and Aunt Ginger too. I asked about Brooksie and she said "no, Landon and Aunt Ginger."

Sorry, Brooksie, your cousin loves you. She knows you are sick and didn't want you "sad" at dinner.

I Almost Hit a Girl...

A characteristic I've picked up from my mom is "Mama Bear Syndrome". It's typically passed down from one generation to another and is best described as standing up for those you love to the point you would do almost anything. My mom would so often come to our defense growing up. I loved having her in my corner because lets face it - no one wanted to mess with her! :)

While on maternity leave, I took Lawson and Harleigh to the library to read books, get a change in scenery/get out of the house! While there, Harleigh sat down on a little chair and read books to me. She mimics her teachers at school and knows how to hold the book properly and get the 'students' attention, tell them to 'sit down and listen'. She began reciting her version of a "Llama Llama" book. A little 3 yr old sat down by her with her book and was reading to her mom/babysitter/grandma (I'm not sure who she was but could have fit into any of these classifications- pretty much this person was suppose to be watching this child who I might at would have never left my house in an outfit she had on- stains, unmatching, etc).  Harleigh and this 3 year old look at each other. I told Harleigh to be nice, and ask the little girl her name and share hers. Like any perfect angel, Harleigh does. That was pretty much the extent of the conversation between the two.

Harleigh sits down, picks up another book to read to me, and this 3 year old looks at me and says "why does she have droopy eyes"? She pointed at them and gave a look like there was something wrong with H.

I quickly responded that Harleigh has beautiful eyes, gave her a look like she just said a curse word and should never talk to me again, and then gave my attention back to my perfect 2 year old who was looking at me with confusion across her face. (As you can tell, I'm still ticked that this child would say anything like this to my kid. And what are droopy eyes? If by droopy, you mean awesomely beautiful then "yes" they're "droopy.")

Who did this 3 year old think she was, dissing my child who was so polite and nice to her? As we left, I was still a little miffed that the grandma/mom/babysitter/lazy bum didn't correct her bratty child so like any mature parent I called my husband to vent. I started with "So I almost punched a girl today..."

Zak having zero idea of what was going on, asked what happened and I began sharing "Well, Harleigh, Lawson and I went to the library....and they asked why Harleigh had 'droppy' eyes...Harleigh has beautiful eyes- they look  just like mine:)....ahh....I can't believe it". I guess I left out some of the context that this was a 3 year old, so Zak was picturing an adult saying this. He responded that he "couldn't believe someone would say that and how rude", he then asked how old I thought they were thinking my response would be "in their 30's" or "in there 40s" and I said "she was 3".

He started laughing and to this day, he'll come home after a rough day and say "I almost hit a girl..."

Harleigh if you're reading this, Mommy would never hit a 3 yr old. I would wait until they were at least 5. :) haha...No, violence is never a solution and you have the most beautiful eyes in the world!

Atlanta Trip June 2012

We recently took a trip to ATL to visit my extended family. We always have a great time catching up, playing games, and my dad's side are amazing cooks and hosts so we are really able to relax and enjoy ourselves.  Below are some pictures of the little guy meeting his Great Grandpa and Grandma Bradbury and his Great, Great (yes, 2) Grandma Saft (102).

Hair Bow

Today I realized after being at the office for a few hours and in a few meetings I had a little something "extra" in the accessories department-one of Harleigh's pink polka dot hair clips. As we were getting her ready this morning, we were "accessorising" and she wanted mom to have some "boootiful" accessories and put a hair clip in my hair (to compliment the barrette I already had in). With breakfast, lunch, getting work stuff packed up I completely forgot until I used the restroom at work around lunch time. Nothing says "professional career woman" like two hair accessories one of which is a pink hair clip! Harleigh 1 Mommy 0!

Mother's Day in Pictures- 2012

This year was a fun Mother's Day for me- celebrating with my family of FOUR! It still is funny for me to say "four". May is a pretty crazy month between my birthday and Mother's Day. Zak, Harleigh, and Lawson stepped up to the plate and I had a great day. First, the best gift I could have asked for was a full night's sleep, Zak took over the nighttime reigns that he does so often and let me sleep through the night! We had breakfast at our family favorite- Skillets, complete with mommy's fave drink, a Latte! Went to church and the greenway and had a pretty relaxed day. Below are some pictures of Mom and The Krazy Kamm Kids!

Mommy and Me

Harleigh is having some separation anxiety and has been clingy lately. Only to mom though (sorry, Zak), she wants to be held all the time. I hope this passes soon, between breasting and carrying kids, my back is killing me.

Lions- Rawrrrr...

We were giving Harleigh lunch this weekend and Zak asked Harleigh if she washed her hands.

Her response was, "Yes". (However she was still in her highchair, her hands were filthy, and there was no napkin in sight.

He corrected her saying, "No, you didn't. Tell the truth, we don't want to raise a liar."

To which Harleigh replied "Lions, rawwrrrr".

We couldn't help but laugh.

Once Upon....

Right now we're dealing with some of the craziness of the terrible two's- talking back, "no's", Harleigh wanting more independence and to make her own decisions.  Although some of it makes me want to pull my hair out, it's a great time for me to start posting some of her stories.

As I've mentioned in other posts Harleigh loves to sing.  The other day she made up a new song, it went:
"Mommy pumping, mommy pumping, mommy pumping"...."yucky, yucky, yucky"
(I guess we know how she feels about breastfeeding)

At church I like to give Harleigh a paci so she sucks on that rather than toys that have been passed around to 20 other kids that have all licked it or coughed on it. When we went to pick her up, the nursery staff could not find her paci, so we had to drive home without it.  The whole ride home Harleigh asked cried begged for paci.  Later that evening, I was asking her how church was, and what she learned.  Her response "No paci".  All she got from church that night is that if she brings paci in, she's not getting it back.  Maybe this will be how we get "rid" of paci, bring a box of them to church and let Harleigh kiss them goodbye!

Lazy 5 Ranch

To celebrate Harleigh's 2nd Birthday we took a trip to Lazy 5 Ranch.  She had a blast and enjoyed the animals - at a safe distance away.  Below are a few pictures of the aniimals we saw.
**Disclaimer:  I'm 9 months pregnant in these, so no I was not stung by a swarm of bees, just fat and ready to pop (4 days later).

This is my fave- looks like a postcard

Big Sister

Harleigh has adapted so well to her new role as "big" sister.  Each morning she wakes up she says "baby brudder" and runs into our room to hang out with Lawson and give him lots of kisses.  When she comes home from school, it's the same thing "where baby brudder?", and she runs over to where he is an gives him hugs and kisses.  She certainly loves her brother.  She's learned how to wipe and diaper all her stuffed animals (she pulls their legs up just like mommy and daddy do to Lawson when we give him a change and wipe).  It's the cutest thing.  We are very blessed to have a little girl who loves her baby brother more than anything.  We look forward to seeing their relationship blossom as they get older we pray this excitement towards one another will continue for a long time.

Happy Birthday, Landon!

Happy Birthday, Landon.  I'm so glad that we're able to play together (especially dress up), chat on the phone, and celebrate birthday's together.  I have such a fun time with you, even though I sometimes get carried away and try to boss you around and tell you what you can and can't do.  Thank you for being the bestest cousin ever!  I love you, Lando Commando!

Love,
Harster
