Lawson Lately

My big boy is almost 9 months! He is a very happy and (finally after bronchilitis, impetigo, etc) healthy guy. Here are a few things he is up to these days:

-crawling (he gets into everything cabinets, stairs, drawers, electrical sockets, air vents)
-laughing and smiling (Harleigh can make him laugh so hard, I love watching them interact)
-talking (mama, dada, nana, baba, it's non-stop and he's loud!)
-eating (non-stop, he loves food and bottles)
-pulling up and cruising
-standing (only for a few seconds, no steps)
-his walker and foam letters are favorites
-everything goes in his mouth
-being tickled on his sides and belly
-taking great naps, he goes down easy
-holding his own bottle
-watching his sister
-hide and seek
-shower time

Here are a few things he is NOT up to these days:
-Sleeping at night (he still wakes up 2-5 times a night, usually because he doesn't know how to lay back down from the sitting position, needs a diaper change, or gas)

Even with lack of sleep, we love you Lawson Philip and look forward to seeing you grow and develop into a loving and active boy!

Lawson 8 months

The big guy has been having some health issues lately, causing us to go to the pediatrician quite a bit. Both of the Kamm kids have very dry skin, and due to the dry skin they are more prone to skin problems (eczema, impetigo, staph infections, etc). We went in at 8 months for flu shots and to get on medication for Lawson's severe impetigo. He weighs in at 21 lbs 15 oz, and 27 3/4 in. long. Needless to say, he eats well.

Another tooth, another week without sleep...

Tooth #3 came in this week (his top left chomper). This one has been the most painful  for all of us. Lawson was more uncomfortable, but the combimation of Motrin, Teething Tablets, and cold teethers seem to help some. However, Lawson is still waking up in the middle of the night 2-4 times.

As, a recap Harleigh had 0 teeth at this point.

Mommy wins again!

Lawson has started to "babble". His first "word", just like Harleigh, was MAMAMAMA!!!  I love it! It's the sweetest hearing him say it in his little innocent voice. I know as he gets older that voice will change and may sound more like Will Ferrell's in Wedding Crashers, "Maaa....meatloaf", so for now I'll enjoy it!

The Difference a Year Makes

Pictures of my two kids a year ago. Harleigh's hair is so short and her face was so baby-like. Lawson, hmm, he was the size of a lemon and likely looked a bit alien-ish (a very cute alien I'm sure :)).

On the Move...

No, we've not sold our home :(, but at 6 months Lawson has started to move! He's begining to crawl. He was only getting one hand and one leg, then when he goes to move the next he will become unbalanced and fall. But now, he's been really focusing and concentrating and he's starting to take more and more "steps".

Another milestone for Mr. Lawson is that we've moved him into his big boy bed (crib). He was sleeping in our room due to his breathing issue and the fact that he's up ALL NIGHT! However, we're starting to turn a corner and he's sleeping for a longer stretch in his bed. Last night, he went down around 7:30pm and woke up at 4:30am, which we'll take over the 11pm wake up, 1:30am wake up, 3:30 wake up, and every 30 minutes from there we've been dealing with. (Kudos to Zak for jumping up and sticking the paci or bottle in, I usually wake up after Zak has already jumped out of bed. And we both know if I get up, Lawson is coming back into our bed as I cannot function or think straight in the middle of the night).

Another big accomplishment for our big guy, is big boy food. We've been giving him bites of avocado, banana, green beans, puffs, noodles, bread for him to chomp on with his two teeth and he seems to enjoy it. Although most of it ends up in his lap, we're able to work on the pinching motion.

Yay Lawson, 6 months is a fun month full of big boy milestones!

Pearly Whites...

Baby tooth #2 has come in. It's right next to number one on the bottom. Lawson welcomed his 6 month milestone with another toofer. We were traveling while he was teething and you wouldn't believe how good he was. A little more fussier at naptime, and biting on everything, but nothing teething tablets and Tylenol wouldn't fix. Now, if only he would sleep....

First Tooth!

Calling all tooth fairies!!  Lawson (5 months) had his first tooth break through yesterday. He's been a little fussier and is drooling a bit more, but all in all he's continued to be a pretty laid back guy. He's enjoying sucking on his bottom lip and gnawing on his hands to cope with any discomfort.

A few more weeks and you'll be able to put that thing to good use with table food, big guy!

Lawson "Darth Vader" Kamm

Since Lawson was 5 weeks old, we've been dealing with breathing issues. He's sounded congested at first, maybe a little head cold, and it's progressively gotten worse- coughing and sometimes vomiting at night and sounding like Darth Vader during the day. Due to his laid back personality, his pediatrician labeled him as a "happy weezer". After albuterol treatments, steroids and antibiotics, all which would help for a short period but never fully "cleared him up" we were able to see a specialist. At Asthma and Allergy they checked him out for asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, but none were what the doctor was hearing in his little chest. Plus with the later, babies typically don't eat and if you seen my boy, he eats. He eats really well;)

The doctor diagnosed him with Bronchilitis which is an infection or mucus in the bronchiles. We're on a new treatment now that will help dry out the infection. Lord willingly, the little guy won't get any more colds over this 2 week treatment so he can finally completely heal. Already he's sleeping better and is a super happy baby. Yay, Lawson!

Atlanta Trip June 2012

We recently took a trip to ATL to visit my extended family. We always have a great time catching up, playing games, and my dad's side are amazing cooks and hosts so we are really able to relax and enjoy ourselves.  Below are some pictures of the little guy meeting his Great Grandpa and Grandma Bradbury and his Great, Great (yes, 2) Grandma Saft (102).

Mother's Day in Pictures- 2012

This year was a fun Mother's Day for me- celebrating with my family of FOUR! It still is funny for me to say "four". May is a pretty crazy month between my birthday and Mother's Day. Zak, Harleigh, and Lawson stepped up to the plate and I had a great day. First, the best gift I could have asked for was a full night's sleep, Zak took over the nighttime reigns that he does so often and let me sleep through the night! We had breakfast at our family favorite- Skillets, complete with mommy's fave drink, a Latte! Went to church and the greenway and had a pretty relaxed day. Below are some pictures of Mom and The Krazy Kamm Kids!

Lawson 15 weeks

Lawson has made a few discoveries lately- his tongue and his feet! I love that he likes to "bite" down on his tongue. He makes the cutest little facial expressions when he does it. He also likes to pull his feet to his head. But watch out, he's a gassy little guy so you'll want to stay upstream! :) His coordination continues to improve and he has been practicing holding a ball with two hands and bring it to his face. He loves to roll around as well, although he sometimes gets ticked when he's left on his tummy for too long.

Lawson goes to Physical Therapy once a week and has improved his range of motion for his torticollis. The PT is impressed with how strong he's getting and is seeing improvement in his exercises he has to do.

Yay, Lawsie! We love you, Big Guy!

Lawson at 14 weeks

I took Lawson to a doctor's appointment to get his finger cultured and while there they checked his weight,  height, and head circumference.  Here are his stats.

16lbs 9oz
26 in long
44cm head

That's a big boy, no wonder my back is killing me!

We'll get the results back to see if he has any infection on his finger (he didn't even cry when they stuck him with the needle), and he has a little wheezing so he's on albuterol and nebulizer for that. Ahh...all the doctor's visits have begun!

6 1/2 Week Check Up

We've had a little head cold going around the house, with it came coughs, congestion, running nose, sneezing, etc.  Harleigh and I got it, and poor Lawson got it too.  I went to the doctor because he's had it for about two weeks and it's disrupting his sleep and making him a bit upset at bedtime.  My concern was that he would have an ear infection, but he checked out.  In the process, he had his weight taken and my little guy loves to eat!  He's 12 lbs 13oz at 6 1/2 weeks!  He also likes to flirt with the nurses- winking and smiling.  What a charmer!

Don't Jinx It!

I really hope I don't jinx it, but this week (Wed night) Lawson slept from 11:15pm- 7am.  We've been struggling with getting him to sleep long stretches through the night.  He typically would sleep for 2-4 hr stretches, and one night he was up from 1am-7am (I was ready to take out a second mortgage and get a baby nurse after that night).

We've tried everything- keeping him awake throughout the day, feeding every 2-3hrs throughout the day, cluster feedings at night, grip water, and nothing seemed to work consistently.  But, at 6 weeks Lawson gave us a wonderful present and slept through the night.  I think part of it is that he has a little cold and is tired and trying to fight that, but I'm hopeful that if we can keep the routine the same we'll continue to get more rest!  Thank you, Lawsy!
