Sausage Quiche

I've always been a fan of quiche, but have never seemed to find a recipe I thought would be easy to make (I need recipe with 10 ingredients or less).  I made this easy quiche I found on Paula Dean's website, very easy and delicious.

Here's what you'll need:
-pound mild bulk sausage
-One 8-inch deep-dish pie crust, in its aluminum plate
-2 cups grated sharp Cheddar cheese
-3 eggs
-1 1/2 cups half-and-half
(optional white onion, mushrooms, spinach, bacon)

1. Turn on the oven to 350 degrees F. Sauté the sausage in the skillet over medium heat, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks, Cook it until no pink remains, about 10 minutes. Using the spoon to lift it out of the skillet and let the fat drip back into the pan, spread the sausage in the bottom of the pie crust.

2. Sprinkle the cheese over the sausage. Break the eggs into the bowl. Pour in the half-and half and beat them together with a whisk. Pour the mixture over the cheese.
3. Put the quiche on the cookie sheet and put it in the oven. Bake the quiche for 35 to 40 minutes, until the center is not jiggly.
4. Using oven mitts or hot pads, take the quiche out of the oven. Let it sit for about 15 minutes before you cut it into wedges.
Makes 8 small wedges or 4 big ones

Ding Dong, the Pump is Gone!

Harleigh and I have cut ties after 11 months!  It's been so nice to be able to spend time with Har throughout the day without being hooked up to a machine.  I will definitely miss the special time and bonding, but I am loving being able to get more things done and spend quality time playing and talking to our little one.

Embrace Your Place

As many know, we attend a very progressive, hip, trendy, and LOUD church called Elevation Church.  We've been going since October 2007, and have really seen our faith grow.  I've never really attended a church that challenges me like Elevation and makes me want to reach others and better myself so people can see Christ through me. Elevation does this.  Although I fall short day after day, I know that my faith continues to grow and I have changed.  Recently, Christine Caine came and spoke and I LOVED her message.  This is one I will listen to a few times titled "Embrace Your Place".  So often we are trying to move forward, make changes, and what we need to do is "embrace our place".  Where we are, may be where God wants us to be and we need to embrace it and be obedient in where He wants us to be.  Often people say that having great faith is by changing what you're currently doing (maybe moving across the country, switching jobs, etc) and so often it takes just as much if not more in showing faith by staying put.  Here is the link the the sermon, if you have 30 minutes I highly suggest listening, you won't be disappointed. http://www.elevationchurch.org/sermons/getback.

It's BOOKED!!!

Our trip to Greece is BOOKED!  We are both excited and anxious.  We are less than 90 days out from our trip and we can't wait to see what Greece has to offer.  The beaches, architecture history, and most importantly 11 days of uninterrupted SLEEP! :)  It's also going to be the first long trip away from our little girl.  We know she'll be in good hands with her Mimi and Gigi, but as any parent knows it's also difficult to leave your little one as you know you'll miss all her smiles, hugs, kisses, giggles, and quirks while you're away.

We will be going with my sis, Ginger and her husband, Dean.  We look forward to the fun stories we'll have while cruising the Mediterranean and visiting different cities.  I'm sure we'll come back with a list of foods....and what they will be better with! :)

We'll be sure to take lots of pictures while there- there's sure to be some breathtaking views!

We've got the BUG again!

Wednesday night was the 3rd visit to the ER for the Kamm Family.  Harleigh was sick from 8pm - 4am.  She lost a lot of color in her face and lips, and when we called Urgent Care they recommended we check into the hospital for dehydration.  After waiting 2 1/2 hours Har fell asleep and we left without seeing a doctor (although we were still up for another 3 hours after leaving).  We visited her pediatrician in the morning, and they said that kids react in different ways some get the vomiting, some get diarrhea, some get both, and some get none.  The bug needs to run it's course.

Glad to report that the little angel is doing better and almost back to her energetic self!  We are praying this is the end of the cold/flu/hospital visit season for us!

First sign!

We've been incorporating sign language into our daily routine with Harleigh.  Only a few, so she can start to recognize and memorize them.  She started to pick up on it this week.  She's starting to sign "all done".  When she's done eating, she'll hold her hands out and shake them.  We look forward to incorporating more signs now that we see she's picking up on it!  Yay, Harbear!!!

New Year, New Look

Harleigh will be sporting a new look this year- her front teeth.  Two upper front teeth broke through this week!  They may have come through earlier and we didn't notice.  It was a surprise that they came, considering she didn't get her first tooth until she was almost 9 months!  Bring on the meat! :)

Greece 2011

We are so excited we booked our couples trip to Greece!!!  My sister, Ginger, brother-in-law, Jayson, Zak, and myself will be heading to Greece!  We can't wait.  The reason for the trip is my sis and I made a pact in April 2009 that we would go to Greece within 5 years.  Since we had babies at the same time and figured that may never happen again, now would be the best time to book it.  (Plus, with the economy in Greece what it is we thought we could get more "bang for our buck" this year.) We haven't finalized everything but we start in Venice,  Italy- Split, Croatia - Corfu, Greece - Chania (Souda), Crete, Greece - Piraeus (Athens), Greece- Mykonos, Greece- Santorini, Greece - Katakolon, Greece - Venice, Italy.  If you know of any attractions we should see or some cost saving ideas, please send them along.  We are looking forward to our EuroVacation 2011!!!

Shout out Aunt Myrtie and Theresa

We've been updating and posting on the "Krazy Kamm Family" blog for over 5 months, and the purpose was to keep family in the loop of what we're up to and also an online journal/baby book for when Harleigh reaches certain milestones.  We love the feedback we've received and are always so touched when we hear people are reading and keeping up with our stories.  We wanted to give a "shout out" to Aunt Myrtie in Iowa and Theresa in Colorado.  As many people know, Harleigh is a "swing" kid.  She loves her swing (my sister refers to it as her "magic" swing).  She actually sleeps in her swing more often then in her crib.  It's a true lifesaver and Aunt Myrtie and Theresa gifted us the swing for the Baby Shower.  We want to thank Aunt Myrtie and Theresa for all the well wishes and feedback , and we love that you're following the blog.  We are so blessed to have you both in our lives. We hope to make a trip up to Iowa and out to Colorado in the coming years!
